Overview

Morfiacidine is a small molecule hepatitis B virus (HBV) capsid assembly modulator (CpAM) developed by HEC Pharm (Dongguan Chang'an Dongyangguang New Drug Research and Development). It belongs to the heteroaryldihydropyrimidine (HAP) class of inhibitors. The drug targets the HBV core protein (HBcAg), interfering with the assembly of the viral capsid. By inducing the formation of empty or defective capsids, it prevents the packaging of pre-genomic RNA and the subsequent replication of the viral genome. Morfiacidine has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B to determine its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile.
