Overview

Morhulin is an over-the-counter topical ointment used for the treatment of minor skin conditions such as nappy rash, eczema, minor wounds, grazes, pressure sores, and varicose ulcers. The formulation contains two primary active ingredients: zinc oxide (38% w/w) and cod liver oil (11.4% w/w). Zinc oxide functions as a protective barrier and assists in the debridement of dead tissue from wounds, while cod liver oil, containing vitamin A, promotes the healing process and skin regeneration. Originally developed by Thornton & Ross, the product is currently owned by Actavis Group PTC ehf and is supplied as a smooth, white ointment for topical application.
