Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Moringa oleifera ethanolic extract is a natural product derived from the seeds of the Moringa oleifera plant. It has demonstrated neuroprotective and antioxidant properties in preclinical studies. In a Parkinson's disease mouse model, oral administration of the extract significantly reduced motor dysfunction and neurodegeneration induced by rotenone. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve enhancing antioxidant capacities, as evidenced by increased levels of reduced glutathione (GSH) and activities of glutathione-s-transferase (GST) and catalase (CAT), while reducing lipid peroxidation (LPO). These effects suggest its potential application in neurodegenerative diseases.
