Morphine + oxidized cellulose is a combination product consisting of morphine, a potent opioid analgesic, and oxidized cellulose, a bioabsorbable hemostatic agent. Morphine acts primarily as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptor in the central nervous system to provide analgesia for moderate to severe pain. Oxidized cellulose is used topically to control bleeding during surgical procedures by promoting clot formation and providing a physical matrix for platelet aggregation. The combination may be used in surgical settings where both pain management and local hemostasis are required.
