Morus nigra pulp extract is a botanical preparation derived from the fruit of the black mulberry tree (*Morus nigra* L.). It is characterized by a high content of secondary metabolites, particularly flavonoids, which confer significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In preclinical models of sepsis, the extract has demonstrated therapeutic potential by reducing systemic inflammatory responses, including the lowering of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) levels and the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) activity. Furthermore, it modulates oxidative stress by decreasing the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase, which may reflect a reduction in the overall reactive species burden. These combined biological actions have been shown to improve survival rates in experimental models of systemic inflammation.
