MOT (Mitochondria Organelle Transplantation) is a preclinical-stage organelle therapy platform developed by MitoSense. The technology involves the isolation of functional, healthy mitochondria from donor cells or human tissue and their subsequent transplantation into diseased cells to restore mitochondrial bioenergetics and cellular function. The delivery mechanism utilizes extracellular vesicles to facilitate the integration of donor mitochondria into target cells. MitoSense is primarily targeting neurodegenerative diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease, while also exploring applications in traumatic brain injury (TBI), cancer (to inhibit growth and reverse chemo-resistance), and mitochondrial health during space travel.
