Overview

Motavizumab + palivizumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibodies developed for prophylaxis against *respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)* infection in high-risk pediatric patients. Both antibodies target the highly conserved neutralizing epitope on the RSV fusion (F) protein, inhibiting virus-mediated cell-to-cell and virus-to-cell fusion, leading to decreased viral replication and spread. Palivizumab is established for the prevention of serious RSV-related respiratory disease in high-risk infants and young children. Motavizumab is an affinity-optimized derivative of palivizumab, designed to provide enhanced potency and protection, showing improved binding affinity and microneutralization activity over palivizumab. The combination is not an approved clinical product but may be considered for comparative or combinatorial research purposes[1][3][4].
