Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Motilitone + pantoprazole is a **combination therapy** consisting of motilitone (DA-9701), a novel prokinetic agent derived from plant extracts, and pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor. Motilitone is formulated from Corydalis tuber and Pharbitis semen and acts by accelerating gastric emptying, promoting gastric accommodation, and modulating visceral hypersensitivity through antagonism at 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT3) and dopamine D2 receptors, and agonism at the 5-HT4 receptor. Pantoprazole suppresses gastric acid secretion by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase in the gastric parietal cells. This combination is investigated and used for the treatment of functional dyspepsia. Clinical studies show no significant additive effect of the combination over monotherapy of either component in terms of symptom improvement or quality of life scores for functional dyspepsia[1][2][4].
