Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MOTO-CAR HPRT is a preclinical-stage cancer therapeutic developed by Thunder Biotech. It utilizes a nanoparticle-based delivery system to engineer macrophages in vivo with a Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) targeting Hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT). This approach, referred to as MOTO-CAR (Macrophage-Oriented Targeted Oncology CAR), aims to reprogram the tumor microenvironment by directing macrophages to recognize and attack HPRT-expressing cancer cells. Unlike traditional ex vivo CAR therapies, this platform leverages nanoparticle delivery for in situ modification of immune cells, potentially simplifying the manufacturing process and increasing accessibility.
