Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MOTYS is a terminally sterilized, off-the-shelf biologic therapeutic derived from placental tissues (amnion, chorion, and umbilical cord) and designed for intra-articular injection to manage symptoms of knee osteoarthritis. Developed using a proprietary process that conserves and concentrates the stem cell secretome while removing live cells, MOTYS is rich in extracellular matrix components, growth factors, and signaling molecules. Its mechanism of action is multifactorial—pro-anabolic (promoting tissue regeneration), anti-catabolic (preventing tissue breakdown), and anti-inflammatory—offering durable pain mitigation and improved functional outcomes lasting 9–12 months after a single injection. The product is immunologically inert due to its cell-free formulation. Doron Therapeutics currently leads its development following acquisition of rights from Bioventus. MOTYS has received FDA Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation as well as Fast Track status for knee osteoarthritis[1][2][3][4][5].
