Mouse granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (mGM-CSF) is the murine ortholog of the human cytokine GM-CSF (encoded by the *Csf2* gene). It functions as a potent hematopoietic growth factor and immune modulator, signaling through the GM-CSF receptor to stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of myeloid lineage cells, including macrophages and dendritic cells. In preclinical research, mGM-CSF is extensively used as a therapeutic candidate or vaccine adjuvant. It has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in models of Parkinson's disease by inducing regulatory T cells (Tregs), enhanced anti-tumor immunity in bladder cancer and melanoma models (often via oncolytic viral delivery), and improved lung resistance in bacterial pneumonia models. Specific long-acting variants like mPDM608 have been engineered to overcome the short half-life of the recombinant protein for chronic therapeutic applications.
