MouthKote

MouthKote is an over-the-counter (OTC) oral moisturizer spray developed by Parnell Pharmaceuticals for the management of xerostomia (dry mouth). Its patented formulation features Yerba Santa (Eriodictyon) extract, which contains mucopolysaccharides that provide a lubricating effect similar to natural human saliva, and xylitol, which helps prevent dental caries and enhances the product's moisturizing properties. MouthKote is indicated for the relief of dry mouth symptoms associated with Sjögren's syndrome, medications, and radiation therapy. It was specifically evaluated in a randomized, double-blind crossover study at the University of Oklahoma, which compared various OTC remedies in head and neck cancer survivors suffering from radiation-induced xerostomia.
