MOv-gamma chimeric receptor gene refers to an investigational autologous CAR-T cell therapy developed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for the treatment of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer. The therapy involves the retroviral transduction of a patient's peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) with a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) gene derived from the MOv18 mouse monoclonal antibody. This CAR targets the folate-binding protein (FBP), also known as folate receptor alpha (FOLR1), which is frequently overexpressed in ovarian malignancies. The resulting gene-modified cells, termed MOv-PBL, are reinfused into the patient to induce a targeted anti-tumor immune response. Clinical evaluation has primarily occurred in Phase I dose-escalation studies, often in combination with interleukin-2 (IL-2) to support T-cell persistence and activity.
