MOv19-BBz is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy developed for the treatment of recurrent high-grade serous ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer. The therapy involves autologous T cells that are genetically engineered ex vivo using a lentiviral vector to express a CAR composed of an anti-folate receptor alpha (FRα) single-chain variable fragment derived from the murine monoclonal antibody MOv19, fused to 4-1BB and CD3-zeta signaling domains. This design enables the modified T cells to specifically recognize and kill tumor cells expressing folate receptor alpha, which is highly expressed in most ovarian cancers. The product was evaluated in phase I clinical trials for safety and feasibility via intraperitoneal administration with or without lymphodepleting chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide and fludarabine). Development was led by the University of Pennsylvania[2][3][7][8].
