Overview

Moxess-CV-625 is a branded generic fixed-dose combination antibiotic marketed by SBM Enterprises. It contains amoxicillin, a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity, and clavulanate potassium, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Amoxicillin acts by inhibiting the biosynthesis of microbial cell wall mucopeptides through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Clavulanic acid acts by irreversibly binding to and inactivating beta-lactamases, enzymes produced by certain bacteria that degrade amoxicillin. This combination protects amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation and extends its antibacterial spectrum to include many bacteria normally resistant to amoxicillin and other beta-lactam antibiotics. It is typically indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin.
