Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This conventional treatment regimen was utilized as the control arm in a clinical study sponsored by Benha University to evaluate corneal epithelial healing following photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). The regimen includes the topical fluoroquinolone antibiotic moxifloxacin (0.5%) to prevent post-operative infection, artificial tears (Systane Ultra) for ocular surface lubrication and hydration, and a sequential corticosteroid protocol involving dexamethasone (0.1%) followed by fluorometholone (0.1%) to manage inflammation and prevent corneal haze. This combination represents the standard of care against which experimental therapies like topical insulin and autologous serum were compared.
