Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Avanzy Plus is a topical ophthalmic fixed-dose combination product developed and marketed by Raymed Pharmaceuticals. It contains moxifloxacin, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and difluprednate, a potent synthetic glucocorticoid. Moxifloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair. Difluprednate acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory agent by binding to and activating the glucocorticoid receptor, leading to the suppression of inflammatory cytokines and mediators. This combination is primarily indicated for the treatment of post-operative inflammation and the prevention of infection following ocular surgeries, such as cataract extraction, or for other steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions where a bacterial infection or risk of infection exists.
