Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an **ophthalmic combination drug** containing three active ingredients: - **Moxifloxacin**: a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to interruption of bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair. It is used for bacterial infections of the eye[2][4][6]. - **Nepafenac**: a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as a prodrug, converted in ocular tissues to amfenac, which inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis and hence decreasing inflammation and pain related to ocular surgery or injury. - **Prednisolone acetate**: a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid that suppresses inflammation by inhibiting multiple inflammatory cytokines and decreasing leukocyte infiltration. Used for ocular inflammatory conditions. Together, this combination is used primarily for **the prevention and treatment of infection and inflammation associated with ocular surgery or injury**[1][3][7]. The mechanism combines antibacterial, anti-inflammatory (steroidal), and anti-inflammatory (nonsteroidal) actions.
