Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Moxiflox-PD is an ophthalmic suspension containing a fixed-dose combination of the broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic moxifloxacin (0.5% w/v) and the synthetic corticosteroid prednisolone acetate (1.0% w/v). Developed by Jainson Biotech, it is indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections (such as bacterial conjunctivitis) and associated ocular inflammation, as well as for post-operative inflammation and infection management following eye surgeries (e.g., cataract surgery). Moxifloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication and transcription, which leads to bacterial cell death. Prednisolone acetate acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by suppressing the inflammatory response, reducing edema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilation, and phagocytic migration.
