Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Moximer is a preservative-free ophthalmic solution containing 0.5% w/v moxifloxacin, developed and marketed by Martia Laboratories for the treatment of bacterial eye infections, such as bacterial conjunctivitis. As a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic, moxifloxacin exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This dual mechanism of action helps prevent the development of resistance. The product is specifically formulated for topical ophthalmic administration and is available in the Indian market as a 5 ml eye drop formulation.
