Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Moxisurge is an ophthalmic antibiotic solution containing moxifloxacin, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone. It is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and other superficial ocular infections caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms. The drug exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. Moxisurge was introduced to the Indian market through a strategic partnership between Bausch + Lomb and Micro Labs, where Micro Labs provides manufacturing expertise and Bausch + Lomb manages the sales, marketing, and commercialization efforts.
