Moxisylyte is a small molecule drug classified as an α1-adrenoceptor antagonist, also known as an alpha blocker. It acts by competitively blocking post-synaptic alpha‑1 adrenergic receptors, leading to vasodilation and improved blood flow in peripheral tissues. Moxisylyte is primarily used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and for the short-term management of primary Raynaud's syndrome, where it helps improve circulation to extremities such as fingers and toes. It has also been indicated for symptomatic management of sequelae following cerebral infarction or hemorrhage, and for reversal of phenylephrine-induced mydriasis in patients at risk of angle‑closure glaucoma. The drug is rapidly hydrolyzed in plasma to its active metabolite deacetylmoxisylyte (DAM), which exerts pharmacological effects similar to the parent compound[1][2][5][6][8].
