Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mozenavir is a small molecule, non-peptidic HIV-1 protease inhibitor. It functions by blocking the protease enzyme, which is crucial for the maturation of new HIV viral particles. This mechanism prevents the virus from assembling into its mature, infectious form. Mozenavir was also investigated through *in silico* studies as a potential antiviral agent against SARS-CoV-2, demonstrating strong binding affinity to several viral targets, particularly furin, suggesting it could inhibit its proteolytic activity.
