MP-101

MP-101 (formerly MT-39) is an orally available small molecule and the (S)-enantiomer of the first-generation antihistamine dimethindene. Developed by Metys Pharmaceuticals, it is being investigated for the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), a common and debilitating side effect of various cancer treatments. MP-101 acts as an antagonist at muscarinic M2 and histamine H1 receptors. Unlike the racemic mixture, the (S)-enantiomer is specifically targeted for its neuroprotective properties, which are thought to involve the prevention of peripheral nerve fiber degeneration and the modulation of neuropathic pain pathways. By offering a non-opioid mechanism, MP-101 aims to provide a safer alternative for managing treatment-limiting neurotoxicity in oncology patients.
