Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MPB-2043 is a superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticle-based MRI contrast agent developed by MegaPro Biomedical. It is designed to enhance magnetic resonance imaging for the detection and staging of lymph node metastasis, particularly in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The agent works by being differentially phagocytosed by immune cells, which allows for high-contrast imaging of lymph nodes to determine the presence or absence of tumor cell metastasis. This mechanism assists clinicians in more accurately staging cancer cases and formulating appropriate treatment strategies. MPB-2043 addresses an unmet clinical need for precise nodal staging, as not all lymph nodes can be biopsied and current diagnostic options are limited[1][2][4][5].
