Overview

MPC-0767 is a small molecule prodrug that acts as an inhibitor of Heat Shock Protein 90 (Hsp90). It was developed by Myriad Pharmaceuticals (later Myrexis) for the treatment of cancer. Hsp90 is a molecular chaperone that stabilizes various oncogenic proteins, including kinases and transcription factors, which are critical for cancer cell survival and proliferation. By inhibiting Hsp90, MPC-0767 promotes the degradation of these client proteins via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. MPC-0767 was positioned as a follow-on candidate to Myrexis's lead Hsp90 inhibitor, MPC-3100, and was in the IND-enabling phase of development before the company ceased its research operations and liquidated in 2013.
