MPHOSPH1-9-278 is a synthetic cancer vaccine peptide derived from the **M-phase phosphoprotein 1 (MPHOSPH1)**, also known as KIF20B. MPHOSPH1 is a kinesin-like motor protein that plays a critical role in cytokinesis and is found to be significantly overexpressed in various cancers, including bladder, lung, and esophageal cancers, while remaining largely absent in normal adult tissues. The peptide is specifically designed as an **HLA-A*2402-restricted epitope**, intended to stimulate the immune system to produce specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). These CTLs recognize and eliminate tumor cells that present the MPHOSPH1 antigen on their surface. Developed by **OncoTherapy Science** in collaboration with the **University of Tokyo**, MPHOSPH1-9-278 has been investigated in clinical trials both as a monotherapy and in combination with other peptides (such as DEPDC1-9-294) for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of advanced bladder cancer.
