MPHOSPH1 peptide vaccine is a cancer immunotherapy consisting of a specific peptide derived from M-phase phosphoprotein 1 (MPHOSPH1), also known as KIF20B. MPHOSPH1 is a kinesin-like motor protein that plays a critical role in cytokinesis and is frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including bladder, lung, and pancreatic cancers, while showing minimal expression in normal tissues. The vaccine is designed to be administered, typically with an adjuvant like Montanide ISA 51, to induce a specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response. These CTLs recognize MPHOSPH1-derived peptides presented by HLA-A*24:02 on the surface of tumor cells, leading to targeted cell lysis. Developed primarily by OncoTherapy Science in collaboration with academic institutions in Japan, it has been investigated in clinical trials for advanced or metastatic cancers, often as part of multi-peptide cocktail regimens.
