Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MPL-001 is a cannabidiol-enriched cannabis herbal extract formulated as an oil with a 1:25 ratio of THC to CBD. Each milliliter contains approximately 50 mg of cannabidiol (CBD) and 2 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The product is developed for oral administration and has been investigated in clinical trials for pain management, including postoperative pain and knee osteoarthritis, as well as oncology-related indications. The extract is produced by MediPharm Labs and has been used in studies led by the University of Manitoba. Its mechanism of action is primarily attributed to the pharmacological effects of CBD, which include modulation of endocannabinoid system receptors such as cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), though no specific molecular target or novel mechanism has been officially designated in trial registries[1][2][3].
