Overview

A biological control used in clinical trials as a comparator for a monovalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine candidate (mPnC candidate). It is administered in studies evaluating safety and immunogenicity of pneumococcal vaccines, typically given as two doses approximately 8 weeks apart alongside other pneumococcal vaccines such as PCV10. The "control" here refers to the comparator arm in vaccine trials rather than an active pharmaceutical ingredient with therapeutic effect. Developed and studied by Pfizer primarily for pediatric use to prevent pneumococcal disease.
