MPP7 small interfering RNA is an RNA interference (RNAi) agent designed to silence the expression of MAGUK p55 scaffold protein 7 (MPP7). MPP7 is a member of the stardust family of membrane-associated guanosine kinase proteins, which are involved in maintaining epithelial cell polarity. Research indicates that MPP7 is overexpressed in esophageal cancer and correlates with poor patient prognosis. By targeting MPP7 mRNA for degradation, this siRNA inhibits the migration and invasion of esophageal cancer cells, potentially by modulating the TGF-β signaling pathway and downregulating wound-healing-associated proteins. Preclinical evidence includes both in vitro cell line studies and in vivo mouse models (subcutaneous and tail vein injection), suggesting its potential as a therapeutic strategy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.
