MPS-213 is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor specifically designed to target the MET (Hepatocyte Growth Factor Receptor) protein. Developed by the Fondazione Ricerca Traslazionale (FoRT), an Italian research organization, the compound was primarily investigated for its potential in treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) driven by MET alterations, such as MET amplification or exon 14 skipping mutations. By inhibiting the MET receptor, MPS-213 blocks critical downstream signaling pathways, including PI3K/AKT and MAPK/ERK, which are essential for tumor cell proliferation, survival, and invasion. Although early preclinical and clinical research showed promise in MET-dependent models, the development of MPS-213 appears to have stalled, with no recent clinical trials or regulatory progress reported.
