MPS-derived T-cells is an experimental cell therapy being developed by Minerva Biotechnologies for the treatment of MUC1*-positive solid tumors. The therapy utilizes T cells generated through the company's proprietary Minimal Protein Surface (MPS) platform, which is designed to produce naive-state stem cells and their derivatives. These T cells are engineered to specifically target MUC1*, the truncated, oncogenic form of the MUC1 protein that functions as a growth factor receptor on the surface of many cancer cells. By focusing on the MUC1* isoform, which is prevalent in over 75% of solid tumors but absent in normal tissues, the therapy aims to provide a highly specific anti-tumor response while minimizing off-target effects on healthy tissues expressing full-length MUC1.
