Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MPV-ACYW135 vaccine is a quadrivalent meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine developed by Beijing Minhai Biotechnology (a subsidiary of Bio-Kangtai) for the prevention of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. The vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from each of the four serogroups. As a pure polysaccharide vaccine, it induces a T-cell independent immune response, which is generally effective in adults and children over two years of age but typically less immunogenic in infants compared to conjugate vaccines. In clinical development programs for newer conjugate formulations (such as Minhai's MCV-ACYW135), this polysaccharide vaccine frequently serves as the active control/comparator in Phase 3 trials to establish non-inferiority.
