MR2-1 is an agonistic mouse monoclonal antibody (clone MR2-1) that targets tumor necrosis factor receptor 2 (TNFR2, also known as CD120b or TNFRSF1B). It is widely utilized as a research-use-only reagent and is being investigated by Universiteit Maastricht in proof-of-principle ex vivo studies. In these studies, MR2-1 is used to stimulate TNFR2 on regulatory T cells (Tregs) isolated from patients with autoimmune or inflammatory diseases—including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), ANCA-associated vasculitis, multiple sclerosis (MS), and Crohn's disease—to promote their ex vivo expansion, enhance their suppressive function, and improve their stability and homogeneity for potential autologous cell therapy applications.
