MRCL3 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of Myosin Regulatory Light Chain (MRCL3), also known as MYL12A. MRCL3 is a regulatory protein involved in essential cellular processes such as cytokinesis, receptor capping, and cell locomotion. In preclinical models of pancreatic cancer, specifically using BxPC3 cells, the application of MRCL3 siRNA has been shown to significantly inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis (measured by an increase in the Sub G1 population). The mechanism of action involves the modulation of the AP-1 transcriptional pathway, specifically by increasing the expression of c-Jun and blocking the expression of c-Fos. This experimental agent is being investigated as a potential molecular target for the treatment of pancreatic cancer, a disease with limited therapeutic options.
