Overview

MRG-107 is a synthetic locked nucleic acid (LNA) antisense oligonucleotide designed to inhibit microRNA-155 (miR-155)[3][4][5][7]. miR-155 is known to play a critical role in immune mechanisms and inflammation, with elevated levels observed in the spinal cords of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)[3][4][5][7]. By antagonizing miR-155, MRG-107 aims to modulate abnormal microglial responses and neuroinflammation in ALS. In preclinical models, inhibition of miR-155 alleviated symptoms and extended survival. MRG-107 has completed preclinical development and has been supported by grants for ALS translational research[3][5][7]. The developer is miRagen Therapeutics (now Viridian Therapeutics)[4][5][8].
