Overview

mRNA-1010.2 is an investigational messenger RNA (mRNA)-based quadrivalent seasonal influenza vaccine developed using Moderna's proprietary mRNA platform and formulated in lipid nanoparticles containing SM-102. It encodes the hemagglutinin (HA) surface glycoproteins of four influenza virus strains, as recommended for seasonal flu vaccines, aiming to induce robust immune responses against both A and B strains of influenza virus. The mechanism of action involves delivery of synthetic mRNA encoding HA antigens into host cells, leading to in situ production of viral proteins that stimulate humoral and cellular immunity against influenza[1][2]. The vaccine is being evaluated for safety, immunogenicity, and reactogenicity in clinical trials.
