mRNA-1030 is an investigational messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine candidate developed by Moderna in collaboration with AstraZeneca for the prevention of seasonal influenza. It is part of a strategic alliance aimed at leveraging Moderna's mRNA platform and AstraZeneca's expertise in vaccine development and respiratory diseases. The vaccine is designed to encode for hemagglutinin (HA) proteins from multiple influenza A and B strains to induce a robust immune response. mRNA-1030 is considered a next-generation flu vaccine candidate, potentially offering broader or more durable protection compared to traditional egg-based or recombinant protein vaccines.
