mRNA-1040 is an investigational mRNA-based respiratory vaccine being developed through a strategic alliance between Moderna and AstraZeneca. This collaboration aims to discover and develop vaccines for seasonal influenza, leveraging Moderna's proprietary mRNA platform for discovery and preclinical work, and AstraZeneca's expertise for clinical development from Phase 2 onwards and manufacturing. Moderna received an upfront payment of $200 million and is eligible for up to $1.2 billion in milestone payments, with profits to be shared post-approval.
