mRNA-1195.2 is an investigational mRNA-based therapeutic vaccine developed by Moderna targeting the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It is one of two formulations of the mRNA-1195 candidate being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials. The vaccine is designed to address long-term complications associated with EBV infection, such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), in individuals who have already acquired the virus. mRNA-1195.2 incorporates the mRNA components of Moderna's prophylactic EBV vaccine candidate, mRNA-1189, along with additional mRNA sequences encoding latent EBV antigens to stimulate a broader immune response against the virus in its latent state.
