Overview

mRNA-1215 is an investigational prophylactic vaccine developed to prevent infection with the Nipah virus (NiV), a zoonotic pathogen that can cause severe respiratory and neurological disease in humans, often leading to high mortality. The vaccine uses a messenger RNA (mRNA) platform, similar to that used in several approved COVID-19 vaccines. It encodes antigens from the Nipah virus designed to stimulate an immune response and generate protective immunity against NiV infection. The development of mRNA-1215 is part of pandemic preparedness efforts targeting emerging infectious diseases for which no licensed vaccines or treatments currently exist[1][4][6][7].
