Drug intelligence / Profile preview
mRNA-1273.617.2 is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine developed by Moderna targeting the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant (B.1.617.2). It encodes the full-length spike protein of the Delta variant, stabilized in its prefusion conformation with two proline substitutions (S-2P), and is delivered via lipid nanoparticles for efficient cellular uptake and antigen expression[7][4]. The expressed spike protein elicits both T-cell and B-cell immune responses, generating neutralizing antibodies to protect against COVID-19[4]. This vaccine was evaluated as a booster candidate in clinical trials but has not been authorized or marketed as a standalone product.
