mRNA-1283.211 is an investigational next-generation COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna. It is a variant-adapted, bivalent mRNA vaccine designed to elicit immune responses against SARS-CoV-2, including variants of concern such as Beta and Omicron. Like other Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, it uses messenger RNA (mRNA) technology delivered via lipid nanoparticles to instruct cells to produce segments of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein—specifically the N-terminal domain (NTD) and receptor binding domain (RBD)—which are key targets for neutralizing antibodies. Clinical studies have shown that mRNA-1283.211 elicits similar or higher neutralizing antibody responses compared to earlier vaccines through at least 91 days post-vaccination.
