mRNA-1403 is an investigational trivalent mRNA vaccine developed by Moderna for the prevention of moderate to severe acute gastroenteritis caused by norovirus. The vaccine contains messenger RNA encoding virus-like particles (VLPs) designed to protect against multiple norovirus genotypes. It is administered as a single intramuscular injection and utilizes lipid nanoparticle delivery technology. Norovirus is a highly contagious enteric virus and a leading cause of diarrheal disease worldwide, particularly affecting young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals.
