mRNA-1469 is an investigational messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine developed by Moderna for the prevention of Ebola virus disease caused by the Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV). The vaccine utilizes Moderna's proprietary lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology to deliver mRNA encoding a viral antigen, typically the viral glycoprotein (GP), which is the primary target for neutralizing antibodies. By instructing host cells to produce the viral protein, mRNA-1469 aims to stimulate both humoral and cellular immune responses against BDBV. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial to assess safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in healthy adults.
