Overview

**mRNA-1653** is Moderna's investigational bivalent lipid nanoparticle-formulated mRNA vaccine designed to prevent respiratory disease caused by human metapneumovirus and human parainfluenza virus type 3. It contains two distinct mRNA sequences encoding the full-length membrane-anchored fusion glycoproteins of the two viruses; host-cell expression of these antigens is intended to induce binding and neutralizing antibody responses. Phase 1 studies in healthy adults and seropositive children evaluated intramuscular dosing, safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity.
