mRNA-1982 is an investigational monovalent mRNA vaccine developed by Moderna for the prevention of Lyme disease. It is designed to elicit antibodies specifically against *Borrelia burgdorferi*, the bacterium responsible for nearly all cases of Lyme disease in the United States. The vaccine uses messenger RNA (mRNA) technology to instruct cells to produce antigens from *B. burgdorferi*, thereby stimulating an immune response that can protect against infection. As of early 2025, mRNA-1982 is being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults[1][4][7].
