Overview

mRNA-CR-04 is an investigational mRNA vaccine developed by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) that encodes the spike (S) glycoprotein of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant. As an mRNA-based therapeutic, it utilizes lipid nanoparticle or similar delivery technology to transport the genetic sequence into host cells, which then translate the mRNA into the viral spike protein. This process triggers an immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activation, specifically tailored to the Omicron variant. The vaccine is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials (First Time in Human) to assess its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in healthy adults, particularly as a booster for individuals previously immunized with other SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines.
