Overview

mRNA-encoded TB antigens is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine candidate being developed through a collaboration between GSK and IAVI for the prevention of tuberculosis (TB). The vaccine utilizes a messenger RNA platform to encode specific antigens derived from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, designed to stimulate the host's immune system to recognize and mount a protective response against the bacteria. This partnership combines GSK's proprietary mRNA vaccine technology and extensive experience in TB vaccine research with IAVI's global clinical development and advocacy network. The project aims to provide a next-generation vaccine strategy to address the high global burden of TB, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
